Does Big Walk Save Progress? Host & Save Guide
Big Walk saves automatically for the host. To continue the same group world later, the same person must load that save and host the next session.
Quick answer: there is no routine manual-save step for the group to manage. The host keeps the save and progress automatically, so choose a host who can return for future sessions.
Who owns the save?
The person hosting the session is the keeper of the save game and the group's progress. Other players connect to that host's active world.
When the host ends the session, the guests are disconnected. To resume at the same point later, the same host must start the game again from that save.
Continue the same world
Use this sequence for a returning group:
- The original host starts Big Walk.
- The host loads the existing save and enters the world.
- Guests reconnect through the platform friends list or a new Join Code.
- The group confirms it has returned to the expected progress before continuing.
Join Codes identify a live session; they do not transfer ownership of the save. A new code may be generated when the host starts a new session.
Choose the host before starting
| Group situation | Safer host choice |
|---|---|
| One player organizes every session | That regular organizer |
| One player has the most reliable schedule | That consistently available player |
| Players rotate frequently | Agree that the main world still requires one fixed host |
| The original host cannot attend | Wait if the group wants to preserve the same world progress |
The official FAQ confirms host ownership and continuation requirements. It does not describe an official save-transfer feature between group members, so this guide does not promise one.
Save progress versus crossplay
Crossplay lets players on supported platforms join the same session. It does not change who owns the world save. Use the crossplay guide for Join Codes and connection checks, and the player-count guide when selecting the world's 2-player, 3-player or 4+ configuration.
